Versions and Product Variants

FSP-Tech® supplies safety padlocks that secure an isolated energy source against re-energization on a personal basis and thereby implement the second of the five safety rules. Every employee closes the isolation point with their own padlock and keeps the key. The product range covers insulated shackles, steel shackles and cable shackles in shackle lengths of 38 mm and 76 mm, along with a sealable single-use version. The lock bodies are made of polyamide, the shackles of plastic or chrome-plated steel depending on the version. Non-conductive versions allow use during work on electrical installations. The lock body is available in ten colors, so departments, trades and external contractors can be distinguished. Lock and key are engraved with consecutive numbers. The keying systems range from a keyed different single padlock to a grand master key system for site-wide key plans.

  • Keyed different (KD): each padlock has its own keying, one key per padlock, more than 40,000 key combinations
  • Keyed alike (KA): one key opens all padlocks within a group
  • Master key system (KDMK): keyed different padlocks, one master key opens all of them
  • Keyed alike and master key system (KAMK): keyed alike groups, one master key opens all groups
  • Grand master key system (GMK): keyed different within the group, one grand master key opens all padlocks

Areas of Application

Safety padlocks are used wherever installations are isolated for maintenance, cleaning or fault clearance and secured against unintentional re-energization. Typical isolation points are miniature circuit breakers, main switches and load break switches as well as ball valves and shut-off fittings. Non-conductive versions are used for work on electrical installations, and the spark-free and non-magnetic version in particularly sensitive areas. Where several people or trades work on the same installation, the single padlock can be extended with a lockout hasp or a group lock box.

Which keying system suits a site depends on the number of employees, the way the trades are organized and how external contractors are handled. We clarify with you how many locking groups make sense, how key allocation is documented and which color assignment can realistically be maintained in daily operation. On request we supply the padlocks engraved and as an equipped shadow board for the relevant plant area.
